We are working with Coram Beanstalk on a short project (maybe longer term) to help recruit volunteers to support Islington primary school aged children with their reading.
They need help to revise their materials and help with recruiting volunteers from all our diverse communities. Here is the link to their website https://www.beanstalkcharity.org.uk/home-page-hero
The VAI will support the following activities
- Deliver 2-3 focus groups and conduct semi-structured interview on how we can capture and report on the perspectives of communities on how we can promote the role more effectively and reach those who would like to help our local children
- Advise on and support the revision of marketing materials in light of the focus group/interview findings and devise versions of flyers to be distributed in libraries, community centres, faith sites and other community organisations; messaging for social media channels, including short videos etc
- Target marketing and outreach in the geographical areas of unmet need and high levels of deprivation in Islington (see table below)
- Facilitate the recruitment (role matching), on-boarding and ongoing support processes for individuals in local areas
